"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." Psalm 34:18
I was searching for Bible verses to include in the newsletter I made to give to (A)'s mom tomorrow during our visit. I used to always pray about and include verses in the newsletters I made for David's mom and even the ones I made for Jaqueline and Ashley. Here is an example:
But I have been slacking lately and the last thing I want to do is forget why we are foster parents. We are foster parents because we feel a great desire to minister to broken families. To be a part of helping them to heal. This is God's calling for our family and during those moments when I have felt heartbroken, I personally felt His closeness.
The verse above brought me so much comfort, not because of my own broken heart, but because of those of our children and their families. They have experienced an incredible amount of pain and hurt that I cannot even begin to imagine. The loss of loved ones, the loss of innocence, the loss of security....those of us who are foster parents could go on and on based on what we know some of our children have had to experience.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." Psalm 34:18
I take comfort in knowing that the Lord is close to Jaqueline.
I take comfort in knowing that the Lord is close to (A) as he feels confusion and sadness about not being with his mom or brother or grandparents.
I take comfort in knowing that the Lord is close to (A)'s birth mother and I pray that God can use us in her life to help her to heal.
I take comfort in knowing that the Lord is close to David as he grows and begins to understand his own losses and gains.
I take comfort in knowing that the Lord is close to David's mom and have the privilege of seeing that first hand.
