Do and Dare

"Do and dare what is right, not swayed by the whim of the moment. Bravely take hold of the real, not dallying now with what might be. Not in the flight of ideas but only in action is freedom. Make up your mind and come out into the tempest of the living. God's command is enough and your faith in him to sustain you. Then at last freedom will welcome your spirit among great rejoicing."
Detrich Bonhoeffer

God continues to teach me about patience. I prefer quick and obvious answers to those big questions in our life such as, "Should we move in order to open our home to this little girl?" It takes time, though, and I for one do not want to rush and risk taking things into my own hands. We KNOW that God has called us to love and parent his children, but we don't quite know if He has called us to be parents for this particular child.

We are speaking with our friend and realtor who helped us find this home and we may put our place on the market and see if we are able to sell it for enough that would allow us to buy a bigger home. So for now we are praying that if it is in God's will for us to move...that someone would offer us just what we need in order to do that.

In the meanwhile, we are enjoying this time that we are able to spend with our friend's 2 1/2 year old foster son (hopefully soon to be adopted son!). She and her family are taking a much needed vacation and we get the opportunity to have A with our family for a couple of days! It is really special to have him here and to get to know him better. It is even more of a blessing to me because I can remember when I met A at 15 months when he was very sick and in the hospital. It is hard to believe that this active little boy is the same child. My friend and her family have done an amazing job loving and caring for him.

David is taking to the 'big brother' role more these days and it is fun to overhear him talking to A: "It's time for your medicine, A. You might feel a little sad, but it's ok because we are all here, ok?"  He's pushing his boundaries to get attention, but he seems to really enjoy having A around!

Next weekend, Z will be here with us and the weekend after that David gets to spend a day with his brother! This has turned out to be a very exciting month. I pray that as the year progresses, we 'do and dare what is right' and are not 'swayed by the whim of the moment.'
