Tonight, as A fell asleep in my arms, after crying as he watched his mother leave our home....he slowly drifted to sleep, often looking up, staring into my eyes as if to memorize this new stranger who is about to become his mom.
My heart breaks for him...I cannot even imagine the deep loss he feels.
But it was an amazing reminder to me that this is WHY WE ARE FOSTER PARENTS- to help these children and their families heal.
We were able to meet A's mom tonight. Talk with her, ask her questions, learn more about her son. I know I've mentioned it before, but I've learned more about love and sacrifice from the birth mothers of my children than anyone else.
What else? I am going to head off to bed soon, but oh...you aren't going to believe this- A is buddies with one of our former foster sons! His mom saw his picture in our home and asked, "Is that C?" So cool. I'm excited to see how God is going to shape our new family. Please pray that He gives me wisdom and energy to balance it all.
Oh, did I mention that Z arrived tonight as well?:) All three kids are sleeping soundly...for now!
