Firsts

One of the most special experiences as a parent is to witness all of those 'firsts.'

First smile.
First laugh.
First crawl.
First step.
First word.

Today we saw N. take two steps all by himself! Lee and I were practicing with him as he walked back and forth between us. We had done the same with David and with Z. when they learned how to walk.

It was such a special moment, but at the same time I felt sadness for N. With David and Z., I could call up their moms and let them know about this huge accomplishment. I knew that it would be so special to them and they would celebrate and it would become a part of their history. With N., I have no idea who his mom is. I don't have her number and can't call her to tell her where her son is staying and for some reason, it is really hard for me.

Meanwhile, we will take pictures to document what we can and send them along to his foster mama. I'm sure she will pass on the good news to his birth mom during a visit and all will be well.

Before I end this post, let me share a little about this guy! Wish I could post a picture of his great smile, but for privacy purposes, I cannot. So here is his adorable back!:) Just imagine the rest...

He has to be one of the happiest, easy-going, 12 month olds I have met thus far! He is an observer (he looks around our house as though he is trying to soak it all in), an explorer (without getting into too much trouble), a teether, a snuggler, and an eater (he fits into David's clothes)!

It has been such a joy to have him and we look forward to one and a half more days of playing, singing, dancing, and more walking practice.
