Tonight was a good night. A really good night.
We ate an early dinner and the boys took an early shower/bath. Since we were left with an hour before bedtime, I told the boys to get their shoes on and we took a walk!
The boys were in their pajamas...whispering behind me as we walked so that they wouldn't scare the squirrels and birds away.
Anthony (in a whispered voice): "Mommy, we are being silent so we can see the birds...(pause)....Mommy, do you hear us? We're being silent."
Apparently I need to explain what the word SILENT means:).
It is funny how much more enthusiastic they are about walking when it is right before bed. We might make it part of our routine during the summer.
Back at home, we snuggled on the couch, read some stories from their new Highlights magazine, and then began at the beginning of David's Bible. It felt so nice to have an evening where we weren't rushing.
We ended with prayers...
David: "Dear God, I hope that we can go camping this summer like my big brother does and I hope that Jesus is taking care of mommy's friend who drowned. Amen." (note: over the summer, a co-worker of mine...an amazingly sweet and loving teacher...passed away during a drowning incident. Her husband lost his wife and their unborn daughter. I shared with David about it at the time, but am not sure what brought this to his mind tonight)
Anthony: "Dear God, please help us have a bigger house and have a bigger family and please help me see my little brother again. Amen."
I ended with a prayer thanking God for my amazing family and asking God to bring Catrina a forever family of her own.

Here is a prayer I want to commit to praying for all the precious children we know and especially for those who are in foster care or waiting for a family. I'd love for you to join me!
"We pray that our children believe that they are loved (by God and by us) and not despised, that they feel held and not forsaken, cherished and not rejected, enjoyed and not just endured."
