One Year Ago...

Lee and I are not the most spontaneous of people. We like our routine and we like plans. David is similar to us in this regard, but I have a feeling that (A), while he needs the structure, probably gets bored sometimes!

Surprisingly, we decided to break out of our comfort zone tonight and take an impromptu trip up north. We are staying in a hotel for the first time ever with the boys. David took one look at the beautiful room and promptly asked, "How do we get out? I want to go back home." (A) was a little more interested and excited. He gets a whole queen sized bed to himself. Well, he might prefer if I were sleeping with him, but that is against the rules. So, I am sitting in a chair next to his bed, typing this as he sleeps and snores:). Lee and David are also on their way into dream land. I won't be far behind.

Today, October 28th, marks the one year point for when (A) joined our family. It is a big day. A special day. I still remember that night one year ago. He was a scared little boy who was trying so hard to hold it together. He had very few words to communicate how he was feeling or what he wanted.

As I was driving our family up here to PA, I couldn't help but think about how much life has changed over the past 6 years. Lee and the boys were both peacefully asleep and I just could not get over the fact that I am so incredibly blessed by my family.

-----

I wrote the above last night and it is now probably too early on a Saturday morning to be awake, but I can't sleep.

One year ago from yesterday, (A) joined our family.

Three years ago from today, Ashley was born. I've been praying frequently for Jaqueline. If you think of it, could you join me? I can't believe Ashley would be three years old.

Today, Lee and the boys get to spend time with grandma, grandpa, AND great-grandma and great-grandpa! We feel so thankful that they are taking the time to drive down here from New York to spend time with us. I will be at a 'Wait No More' Conference. The description is below. I can't wait to see what God will do with this today!

Wait No More®:
Finding Families for Pennsylvania's Waiting Kids
Right now, more than 1,000 legal orphans in Pennsylvania foster care are waiting for adoptive families.  Pennsylvania has more than 15,000 churches, and God has given clear commands for Christians to take care of His orphan children.

So if the command is clear and the need is apparent,
why are these kids still waiting?

Join Focus on the Family, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services as well as church and adoption leaders from around Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 29, 2011.  You'll hear more about the kids who are waiting, the process of adoption from foster care and ways to support adoptive families.  In addition, agency and county representatives will be on site to answer questions and help you get started.

So come explore what the Lord may be asking you to do.  Together we can ensure that no child in Pennsylvania is waiting for someone to call mom or dad.
