Transition Day 4 (Part 2)

(Music playing in car) "God made you special, and he loves you, he loves you very much..."

Little D: "Kaari! God loves ME very much! And Jesus loves me. And I am going to show Jesus my new shoes."

-----------

Little D. did not sleep during his nap today, but he woke up cheerful :). We made his dinner and then headed to his dad's hotel. There he ate dinner, took a bath, brushed his teeth, and played. His dad did it all and Little D. handled it VERY well. We were there too, but from now on we won't be. Tomorrow will be his first visit without us. Purposeful transitions make such a difference for children. I am so grateful that his dad has been open to this process. It is helping a lot.

On our way home tonight, Little D. was bathed and in his pajamas. He announced, "I am tired."

I commented to Lee that it is the first time I have ever heard him say this and Little D. spoke up again: "I am SUPER tired. SUPER SUPER SUPER tired."

Haha!

----------

How I feel: It is hard to think of him leaving. Really hard. It is hitting me more today. However, because things are going so smoothly and his dad is wonderful with him it really helps me feel at peace.

How the boys feel: David is hanging in there. He actually seems pretty happy and goofy. Anthony is out of it. He is not himself at all. The crazy nonsense questions are through the roof. His critical thinking skills are shot.

How Little D. feels: He is so sweet and affectionate. The language barrier is definitely tricky. We overheard him in the bathroom tonight and his dad was humming twinkle twinkle little star. Then we heard Little D. saying, "Papá, sing it with the WORDS please!" It is actually pretty humorous for now:). He'll pick up Spanish quickly, though, as he is quite willing to imitate new words and phrases.
