Growing Up

I am sitting here on our couch having just given David and (A) a thorough cleaning of their teeth. They brush their teeth independently now, but we have a dentist appointment coming up and I just want to make sure they are truly clean.  Lee is reading them stories and putting them to bed tonight.

When I look up, I see their new backpacks hanging on the wall. The red one has the letter A embroidered on it and the black one a letter D.

Their big boy bikes are on the patio.

Their new shoes are by the door. They both know how to tie on practice laces now, but the real thing can still be challenging.

(A) was a big help at the grocery store yesterday.

David sat through a whole church service this morning.

(A) remembered the Bible story from Sunday School.

David made his first peanut butter and honey sandwich almost all by himself.

They can't wait to go back to school. David will start Kindergarten and (A) will begin Pre-K or "Pre-K Kindergarten" as he calls it.

It is strange...how much they have grown up.
