We just dropped (A) off for a visit and on our way home (just David and I) it started to rain.
It rained harder and harder and David became increasingly concerned.
"Mommy, I can't see. I can't see because of the rain, mommy."
Then as we neared our home, David noticed that I had turned off my GPS.
David: "Mommy, why did you turn off your GPS?"
Me: "Well, I had it on to help me with directions before, but I know how to get us home now so I don't need it."
David: "But, mommy, don't you need it because I can't even see outside and it will help you to know where to go!"
Me: "Don't worry, sweetheart, I'll get us home."
It was then that I realized...
How often do I give suggestions to God when I "can't see" what is up ahead?
How often do I worry because I "can't see" where I am going or what is going to happen?
How often does God have to reassure me - DON'T WORRY I WILL GET YOU HOME. God can see through the storm when we can't.
What a beautiful reminder to me this afternoon and especially well timed as tomorrow we have court for (A). I'll admit that I've been doing exactly what David was doing today...worrying and asking God if he knows what he is doing or if he needs help with something.
Now, however, I will take comfort in knowing that HE SEES so I don't need to worry about the things that I can't.
