In between the exciting trips and outdoor adventures are the realities of our life as foster parents.
The reality that life can be hard and complicated, but also the reassurance that God is ALWAYS bigger than our circumstances and that He is faithful to bless us when we are obedient to love and care for His children.
Over this past month, God has provided a way for (A) to attend an amazing school next year, provided a way for us to fix our car so that I can drive to work and school, and most importantly God has blessed us by showing how He is using us in the life of (A)'s mom.
Two days ago, I stayed home with (A) who was sick with strep throat. As we arrived home from dropping David off at school, I checked the mail. There was a letter from (A)'s mom! Usually she addresses her letters to (A), but this time it had my name on the front.
I opened it carefully and was shocked by what I read. It was so unexpected, but also exciting to read because it shows me how God is at work in her heart:
"If I never told you, I would like to thank you and Lee for taking care of my son and treating him like he is your own. Thank you all soooo much for that."
"Also, I would like to thank you for everything you have done for me. If it wasn't for you, I don't know what I'll be doing without my kids. Thanks for letting me know how my son has been doing. God bless you all."
Ok, so you may be thinking...blah blah blah...of course she is going to thank you, you are taking care of her son.
You need to know that it has taken a LONG time for her to trust us for many reasons that I completely understand. You need to know that this is a woman of very VERY few words.
Because of this and other things I won't share...it is a BIG deal that she wrote this letter. I am praying that when she sees our love for her and her son...that we reflect God's love for her and (A). I absolutely love that God is faithful to show us how He is actively at work as we continue our journey as foster parents.
Thanks for letting me share!
