Imagination Gone Wrong

My boys...oh, how I love my boys!

They have such great imaginations- especially (A). Sometimes I have no clue as to the origin of his imaginative play, but that's alright...I can go with it...most of the time.

Lately, I have found it quite humorous that I have had to break up fights during their imaginary play. Here is an example so that you can understand what I mean:

(A) - pretending to eat ice cream: "David, I eat ice cream, David. I hab banilla."
(showing him his imaginary ice cream cone)

David pretends to grab the ice cream cone and eats it.

(A) - "NOOOO David, my ice cream. NOOO."

David pretends to grab it again and eats it.

(A) - "Mommy, mommy, David grab, Mommy! MOOOMMMYYY!"

David pretends to eat his own and (A) pretends to grab it from him.
* Note: no physical contact occurred during these exchanges

David - "MOOMMY! (A) is eating my ice cream and I don't want him to!"

------

Seriously? How do you respond to that? Here was my poor response:

(chuckle) "David and (A), your ice cream was pretend- get over it."

Was that wrong? I just couldn't think of anything better at the time:).
