(A) just never ceases to amaze me with how much he is learning and how quickly he is picking up new skills. I'm so proud of him.
Now, in the past, memory was not his strong suit. Of course, his hearing loss along with lack of exposure to vocabulary made remembering new songs and words that much more challenging.
A few months ago, we bought each of the boys a stone engraved with a Bible verse. They would ask us to read it over and over again to the point where they both had it memorized. They both lost those stones and I have since bought quite a few more, realizing that this is a great way for them to memorize Bible verses!
Well, (A) loves his new stone....keeps it in his pocket and brings it with him to school. The other day, he asked me to read it to him so that he could imitate the verse- "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." After this process, he smiled and boldly recited his first Bible verse- "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
No. way. It had been months since we said that verse!
I was shocked, amazed, and so incredibly thankful that God is engraving His words into (A)'s heart. He is such a sweet, loving, and joyful little guy and I feel extremely privileged to have had the opportunity to watch him mature over the last 14 months.
