It was probably too much for the boys.
Let me rephrase that.
It WAS too much for the boys.
It was worth it, though, and I hope that they have recovered enough tonight so that their poor teachers can get a break tomorrow.
Let's start with Saturday:
Saturday morning we celebrated Anthony's little brother's fourth birthday. That kid is just so stinkin' cute. I really can't get enough of him. All of the boys have such great smiles.
We celebrated at Chuck E. Cheese. Anthony and David both did so well. We have a video of Little A blowing out his candles while Anthony literally held his lips closed to stop himself from blowing them out first. Self control is so hard for him, but I was impressed at how he managed that situation himself!
It would have probably been a great weekend had we stopped there, but we didn't.
A few hours later, we celebrated David's little cousin's fourth birthday at his house. We were planning to just stay there 30 minutes...an hour at most.
There was a big screen TV and the boys were glued....to the point that they were actually quite rude to anyone who tried to engage them in conversation. Right around the time they were attempting to play football with the balloons in the living room, I decided it was time for us to make an exit.
We drove home, the boys showered, and then went to bed.
Sunday:
They both held it together for Sunday School at church on Sunday morning.
Again, we probably should have stopped there, but we didn't.
After a quick lunch at home, we headed over to see their favorite baby brother...Baby C!
We were all in heaven.
The boys were wild, but hung in there since apparently baby toys are way more exciting than the ones they have at home:).
We left our visit with the baby and headed straight over to our friend's house for a Super Bowl chili dinner. It was delicious, but the boys...they were spent. Right after eating, I drove them home and let Lee enjoy some more time with the other adults. At home, they showered and went to bed.
That was the end and I thought that perhaps we'd get lucky and they would be so happy from their fun times over the weekend that they would be ready to start their school week on a good note.
Not so much.
It's ok, though, because we learned an important lesson. Our boys have made an awful lot of progress with what they can handle, but it is best not to push them. In the future we will try to limit our exciting events to just one or two per weekend:).
