My Attempt

I'm not crafty. Drawing? Painting? I love it. Arts and crafts...not really my thing.

Still, when I cleaned out the spices from the little glass jars in our rotating spice rack, I just knew they had to be good for something.

Lee mentioned candy and voila! an idea popped into my head.

We would use them as "Sweet Jars" and whenever I noticed the boys being kind to one another, they could pick out one candy from any sweet jar of their choice. I would also tape on Bible verses about loving others and we would read that verse before enjoying the treat. My boys never really eat candy so I was certain this would make a big impression.

Simple, right? So I set out to the Dollar Store and stocked up on candy. Then I transferred the candy to the clean glass jars. Finally, it was time for the lids. I took one from the drying rack and water kept dripping out of it. I tried another one with the same result. Water had become trapped in the lid somehow.

Ugh. I didn't want to risk mold building up and inadvertently make my kids sick. Of course, without the lids, they couldn't attach to the really cool rotating thing...bummer!

So I rummaged through the craft bin we have (that hasn't been opened in a LONG time) and decided I would just try to make the most of it.

I ended up using Saran wrap and green pipe cleaners haha. Oh well, at least my label maker worked and had a font size small enough for me to print out verses! These certainly aren't as pretty as the many crafty items I have seen on Pinterest, but I'm looking forward to memorizing all of the verses with my boys:).

Thanks for humoring me and reading about my attempt at crafty-ness!
