Perks & Vomit

One of the many perks of being a mom is all of the growing and learning we accomplish through our children.

I am so thankful for Anthony. We had been having a really good season with him and I am clinging to memories from that time when these past few days it feels as though we have taken a giant leap backwards. That kid can frustrate me to no end, but I KNOW God is using him to help shape my heart.

Anthony helps to keep me humble as a mom and to rely on God for patience and love. This morning, I had him to thank for motivating me to spend an hour studying the Bible. I won't go into how he motivated me:).

On a practical, slightly-disgusting note, today Anthony also gave me the opportunity to test out my mommy preparation skills.

Back seat of the car + "Mommy, I feel like I have to throw up" = yuck!

I think Anthony learned that you probably shouldn't lie about eating candy when the evidence has just appeared right in front of you!

Anyway, I learned that I was more prepared for a car vomit-crisis than I thought. The change of clothing in the back of my car was actually appropriate for the season. There were even socks and underwear! Those extra plastic grocery bags came in really handy (although I wish he had one near him when he was getting sick).

All in all, it probably took us five minutes to clean up. I had hand sanitizer, but I sure do wish I had Clorox Wipes. Lee says they will probably freeze in the winter anyway.

So now the boys are asleep, Lee is steam cleaning my car (maybe he'll be able to get rid of that gross smell from the smoothie I dropped months ago?), I am washing Anthony's car seat cover, and debating on the best way to open those plastic bags and clean off his clothes from today....any tips?

Well, there you have it - the unexpected perks of motherhood!
