It has been an interesting past few weeks...approaching social services with possibly doing PRIDE (foster care) training at our church. We have close to ten (probably more) families considering...isn't that amazing??
Here is my dream...my hope...my prayer....that for every family seriously becoming a foster parent, another family is licensed with the sole purpose of supporting that other family. They will become their respite provider so that the children don't have to go to strangers...they will be there to listen because they will care about that child just as much...it is my prayer that the child and their birth family will feel as though they are being embraced by a community.
Anyway, foster families are in short supply, right? You'd think that agencies would jump at the chance to do this, right?
Hmmm...nope, not so much.
The idea was rejected by one agency and is currently being considered by another agency....both desperately need families.
I'm praying that God's will be done in this and that I don't give up trying to get this to work before it is time:).
