Gideon

This is Gideon. He is three years old. He lives in Ethiopia. Gideon cannot see well and needs help to walk, but he loves to listen to sounds and well....just look at that smile and those bright eyes! Gideon needs a mommy and daddy to love him...tuck him in at night...teach him...and help him to grow up to be the man God wants him to be.

His name means 'Mighty Warrior.'

I get emails every once in a while from Bethany Christian Services, but for some reason...this little boy, Gideon, stood out in a big way.
It began the day before when I was going through Jaqueline and Ashley's documents. They were in a binder, but a receipt slipped out. It was a receipt from when we took Frida to her first pediatrician appointment. He just happened to be a Gideon...you know, the Christians who provide Bibles in every hotel room? It was truly a miracle to find this kind, loving man and that he would help to look after Frida.

The next day, (A) asked me to read the story about Gideon in the Bible. I thought that was interesting having just thought about Gideon the day before. We read it before school.

In the Bible, Gideon was the man who God wanted to use to save Israel, but just to be sure that he was indeed called to do this...he requested proof of God's will by asking for a miracle.

Then it was time for my devotional and wouldn't you know it....I read about Gideon in Isaiah 10:26.

The phone rang and it was a woman who wanted to talk with me about orphans. Her name is Bethany and she is passionate about advocating for children in need of families.

We hung up and I quickly checked my e-mail. As I scanned my new messages, my jaw just dropped. There was an email from Bethany Christian Services with the title:

Family Finder: Help Gideon Find a Family

I was just in awe and while the story is quite drawn out...I shared it with my mom and with Lee and we (along with the boys) began praying for Gideon - that God would bring him a family and that he would indeed become a mighty warrior for Christ.

A few days ago I emailed to ask about this little man. He still desperately needs a family.

Please join us in praying for Gideon!
