Dinner Conversations about Adoption

David: "I love orphans so much and God really loves orphans."

Me: "So do I, David, I think it would be nice if we could adopt an orphan! Maybe from China or Ethiopia...where do you think?"

David: "China is too far away. We should adopt a child closer."

Me: "I'd like to adopt (A)."

David: "But he's already a part of our family...what about other children?"

Me: "Ok, so maybe we should just keep being a foster family. That means that we take care of and love children who have mommies and daddies that can't take care of them."

David: "Just like my mommy N couldn't take care of me."

Me: "That's right, David. You know, I feel so blessed that I get to be your mom."

David: "Me too, mommy."

Grandma: "And I feel blessed to be your grandma, David."

David: (thoughtful smile)

Oh, my precious son. God has certainly given him a special heart...one that LOVES to learn all about Jesus and one that LOVES what God loves...the orphans. According to a conversation we had last night, he is planning to adopt millions:). I can't wait to see what God has in store for him!
