I LOVE when God takes my questions and fears and promptly proves to me (again and again) that HE is in charge- not me. I love that He does so in such a gentle, but powerful way...reminding me WHY we were called to be foster parents.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings."
This is why....to love others and be a part of repairing families, relationships...and restoring hearts that have been hurt and broken.
(A)'s mom wrote us the most beautiful thank you letter. In it, she shared that she now has faith and hope. HOPE....God has been teaching me a lot about this lately and I have been praying just that for her!
I spoke with (A)'s aunt twice over these past few days. Today she opened up about struggles and hurts that she has. She just moved here and doesn't have any friends to talk to....I invited her to join us for church and she said she might like to do that:).
You know, it is so strange...how I am beginning to feel protective of (A)'s mom and now feel connected somehow to (A)'s aunt. Isn't it incredible how God does that? Two families who would probably never have connected except through the pain and difficult circumstances that led to foster care. And yet, because of that pain and those difficult circumstances...God is able to bring healing through our relationships. Crazy, but very cool.
Thank you, God, for faithfully showing me that YOU are in charge.
