I learned so much from the Empowered to Connect Conference I attended a few weekends back.
One important thing I learned was the strange behavior often stems from fear. There are times throughout the day that Anthony gets this look on his face and I know that I cannot leave him unsupervised. It is a look and well, I just know.
Tonight after dinner I saw that look and so instead of having him get up and do his nighttime routine independently, I had him sit at the table and wait for me to finish up.
Then I remembered that important fact I had learned and so I stepped out on a limb and asked him, "Is something making you feel scared?"
To be honest, most of the day he was a little 'off' and having trouble remembering the most basic things. I figured that his response to this question would be the same as his response to the other questions I asked him today: "I don't know."
Well, wouldn't you know it....right away he said, "Yes, I'm afraid I am going to have another bad dream tonight."
Wow.
This is a big deal! Anthony is really starting to open up about his feelings and is beginning to connect how they impact his behavior.
I am thanking God that we have this time together to figure it all out.
He had fun finger painting today too:)
