"First" Visit

I must admit, I was feeling nervous about how it would go....our first visit with (A)'s birth mom after she made the decision.

The timing wasn't necessarily ideal- a Thursday afternoon right after school, but it was set and we were going. I tried to prepare myself for tantrums and irritability...knowing that after a full non-stop day, my patience would probably be low.

Many people were praying for this visit- thank you!

I remembered to pack the tree in the car along with the decorations.

I remembered to bring snack so that the boys wouldn't be hungry.

The visit was wonderful! I wish I had remembered to bring my camera with me, but she took some pictures:).

Let's see...so we arrived and the boys were so excited to see her new apartment. She had cars for them to play with and that kept them entertained for quite a while. Then they ate snack and we finally got to decorate the tree! She said it was a nice tree and I was so glad she liked it.

The boys played hide and seek and made each other laugh so hard and loud that the neighbors were probably going crazy. I was really happy she had the chance to see the boys playing and how much they enjoy each other (most of the time!).

Finally, it was about time for us to leave and (A) asked to take a picture of his mom. After that, he decided he wanted a picture of both his moms together. As I sat next to her, put my arm around her, and smiled for the camera, I couldn't help but think of how that moment was such a beautiful symbol of healing and also exactly what I have been hoping and praying God would do for our family....bring us all closer together.

Thank you again for your prayers. I am forever grateful for such an incredible "first" visit!
