Warm and Fuzzy

Don't you just love those days when your heart just swells with love and you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Today is one of those days for me!

My parents came to visit this weekend and it was so nice to see them! Of course, both Lee and I are somewhat concerned that the boys might have scared them enough that they will back out of watching them for a weekend next month:). They claim that nothing could change their minds. I just pray that David doesn't suddenly forget how to listen like he did on Saturday! I decided to not write a post about that day. If I was going to write one...it would probably be titled, "Disrespectful and Disobedient."

Anyway, here is a cute picture from our night out to celebrate Lee's birthday. David ordered a pizza (kids can make their own pizza at Uno's - so fun!) and then proceeded to eat mainly the cheese and pepperoni! Can you blame him? We have been scraping all of that good stuff off for over a year:).

Back to the 'Warm and Fuzzy.' Isn't it so special when your children actually apply what you have taught them?

This morning, Lee taught me that David and (A) are ready to resolve their conflicts without as much assistance. They had a little dispute over the very fun tunnel/tent toy my parents brought over this weekend. Lee put (A) in the bedroom and talked with David. He explained to David what he should say and how he should expect (A) to respond. I was definitely a skeptic. However, I was proven wrong and I could not have been happier! Here is how their conversation went after David joined (A) in the bedroom (I was listening in):

David: "(A), please don't close the door to the tent. I need to get in and I don't like it when you close the door, ok?"
(A): "Ok, David. I'm sorry."
David: "That's ok. Please don't do it again. Do you want to come play with me now?"
(A): "Yeah."

Those of you who are parenting or have parented or know what three year old boys are like know that this is a big deal!

(A) had a visit with his birth mom today and both Lee and I noticed that it really helped him to calm down. He seems happier and is so much more compliant.

Today was filled with many, "Yes, mommy" and "Thank you, mommy" moments. So many hugs and snuggles and one-on-one conversations.

During bath time, I informed David about his upcoming weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. He asked me where we were going and I said we are going to a class (we're going to a marriage conference through FamilyLife). Here is how the rest of the conversation went:

David: "Oh, that's nice that you are going to a class mommy. Are you going to learn about Jesus in your class?"

Me: "Well yes, David, we are going to learn about Jesus and about how God wants mommy to be a good wife and daddy to be a good husband."

David: "That's so exciting mommy that you get to go to a class to learn about Jesus just like I go to a class to learn about Jesus! I'm so excited for you, mommy."

Me: "Well, thank you David. We're excited too."

God is good and I am so thankful for these 'Warm and Fuzzy' days!

  1. Jeff and I went to a FamilyLife marriage conference a number of years ago--it was good!! And isn't it wonderful when your kids seem to "get it?" I treasure those moments!!
